Mississippi Coast Coliseum and Convention Center Parking Lot Safety and Security Improvements

The Mississippi Coast Coliseum and Convention Center is a multi-purpose convention and entertainment complex that hosts local, regional, and national events attracting over 700,000 visitors annually to the Mississippi Gulf Coast. The facility is a vital component of tourism promotion on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. The GoCoast 2020 Tourism Committee and other studies identified several competitive asset gaps associated with the Coliseum and Convention Center, which currently limit tourism growth on the MS Gulf Coast. The Mississippi Coast Coliseum and Convention Center’s ability to attract more conventions and events is limited by current site capacity and the lack of accommodations and amenities on site. Enhancing the Mississippi Coast Coliseum and Convention Center’s site development capacity will enable the facility to remain competitive in attracting more visitors to the Mississippi Gulf Coast. This project will enhance site capacity improvements by adding safety and security measures within the project area including, but not limited to, installation of additional parking area lighting with high Grant Award Amount $3,186,289.00 Additional Info: efficiency LED lighting, installation of exterior security camera systems, and increasing inventory of walk-through metal detectors and wands for event security.
