Port of Gulfport Expansion

About this grant

This project supports infrastructure planning for expansion at the Port of Gulfport, including development of dredge material containment berms. As maritime freight shifts to larger, deeper-draft vessels, the port faces limitations due to channel depth, restricting access and requiring some vessels to offload cargo elsewhere. Despite recent supply chain disruptions, the port has remained underutilized for this reason. This project will advance planning, engineering, design, permitting, and environmental compliance for containment structures to support navigation channel deepening and widening, enabling expansion of upland areas at the East Pier.
