Salvation Army Center of Hope

About this grant

This project will support workforce development activities conducted by the Salvation Army to support community skills training and workforce development programs in the Mississippi Gulf Coast Region. The Salvation Army’s Centers of Hope will be multi-purpose facilities serving the region’s underserved and impoverished populations. The facilities will provide residents with educational opportunities and workforce training in the basic skills necessary to succeed in today’s workforce. Through partnerships with local non-profits and other agencies, the Salvation Army will provide GED classes and assistance, workforce retraining, assistance with job applications, and training in basic interview skills. The Salvation Army will also partner with the Mississippi Department of Employment Security’s WIN Job Center on job placement initiatives to bring previously-unskilled or untrained people into the Mississippi Gulf Coast Region’s workforce.
